SciFi and Fantasy Art: Burdock

Gotta love Norse/Celtic/faerie fusion. I wanted to draw an old and battered badass of a faery that looked more darkly competant than the pretty-boys I've already drawn. Someone's got to train the young ones and I gave him the scars to show for it. The only thing I'm still puzzled about is what these guiys are fighting. Beetles? Mice? Very small birds? Any ideas people?

first off, i Love the chesnut-shell shield! such a kool idea2 and second, they must be fighting leaf imps who are destroying the flower and fruit gardens which these guys tend and collect their food from. yeah, thats it.. 2

i really like the style of your fairies, and to say just for the record, you are quite a beauty yourself. In my opinion i think that the perfect enemy for the fairies would be bat riding evil fairies with torn wings, some can fly but very few. If you care to hear more just contact me, sorry its 3 in the morning and i really dont feel like writing anymore.

I really like the wings. You don't see many faeries portrayed in this style. Nice.

I like it...but they should be fighting evil faeries or maybe humans cuz i don't like that all faeries have to be tiny- i think they're more of a human height

Awesome warrior! He looks tough, all right. Battered, though. The wings are amazing, and fit him nicely.
I think faerie could co-exist with mice; maybe they are fighting intelligent voles, or malevolent weasels...
However, animals are generally fought with spears and such. Swords are weapons humans use mostly for other human-types. If faeries follow that pattern, then they might be at war with evil fae or imps or goblins.

Wow, love the style, and the fact that he isn't all new-an-shiny... George Lucas called this the Used Universe concept- make it look like it has been alive and living in a real world. Its one of the things I try to do in my own better art.
I think if I were winged and only about 3 to 6 inches tall, I'd be extremely concerned about falcons, kestrels, gangs of crows and such.

yay for Norse/Celtic faerie fusion! This is breathtaking! Again, I love the pose. Your poses for your drawing are just great. Interesting and fun.

Perhaps they fight lizards? Or bees?

This guy looks very tough and concentrating. I love his hair, and the wings are gorgeous. I like how your paid attention to detail with the costume - the armor, the shield, the breehces with the winding legging and and sandal-ish shoe. I like the clothing very much.
